¶1. The Eau Claire County Sheriff's Department appeals a judgment awarding three former employees back pay and the employees cross-appeal the award of their attorney fees. The employees resigned from the department while it was negotiating a new collective bargaining agreement with the union. The previous contract, however, had expired, and when the employees left, the department and the union had not reached a new agreement. After the new agreement was signed, the employees sought, and were eventually awarded, retroactive pay by the circuit court.
